Belkin CableFree USB Hub: Ultra-Wideband in action

With the large adoption of USB as the standard to plug devices to a computer, problems may arise when using at the same time several connections. Because usually the cables are not that long all the devices must be near the computer to be used (simultaneously or not).

This, in some situations, can really reduce the space around the computer. It can also create some problems because of the (relatively) high number of cables places in the proximity of the computer.

One possible solution is to use a USB hub to only have a direct cable from the computer to the USB hub. This generally requires an extra device near the computer and there is still one cable to be plugged.

A more handy solution is to use, as an USB hub, the newly introduced Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub. This device, available starting from mid-December, allows the user to connect, without using cable, as much as four USB devices to the USB hub.

The Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub is able to do it by using the Ultra-Wideband technology. In fact the manufacturer, Belkin, when referring to this USB hub, states that this is the first Ultra-Wideband device available in the U.S.

This technology removes the need of cables because all the data is sent wirelessly between the computer and the devices. The use of the Ultra-Wideband technology also reduces the possibility of interferences among various signals.

Lastly the Ultra-Wideband technology guarantees higher transfer rates. The USB hub can be positioned up to 30 meters away from the computer. Included in the USB hub retail box there is also a USB Dongle that can be used to better position the USB hub to use the Ultra-Wideband technology at its maximum.
