Kensington makes dual monitor setup easy

Friday, January 11, 2008

Kensington has just announced their USB Dual Monitor Adapter at CES in Las Vegas.

This USB device, using DisplayLink's latest Graphics transport software, will allow users to expand their desktop by pairing up to six displays connected to a single USB 2.0 port to create a powerful desktop “command centre” that provides immersive access to digital multimedia content at work or home.

According to the company, users will be able to display 3D images, such as Windows Vista Aero interface or Google Earth, as well as smooth DVD video playback, rendered in 32-bit colour depth as if there were viewing it on a single screen.

The Kensington USB Dual Monitor Adapter includes both DVI-I and VGA video output; mirrored desktop, extended desktop and primary display (with Vista) video modes; and supports widescreen displays up to 1440 x 1050 pixels and standard (4:3) displays up to 1280 x 1024 pixels.

Pricing and availability are not yet finalized, but estimated to be around a $99 retail price, and available late into the second quarter of 2008.
