Quicky USB Wi-Fi antennaThe broad distribution of wireless connections and the availability of more powerful equipment has vastly increased the area covered by the wireless technology. There are however some scenarios where the signal strength is not good enough so a connection can't be established. Maybe we know that we are close to the area covered but we are not able to take advantage of the technology.

In this cases Mac users can count on a new USB device introduced by QuickerTek to receive a boost. We are talking about the Quicky USB Antenna, a device that is able to boost the incoming and outgoing wireless signal.

It is a transceiver meaning that it can both receive and transmit and besides the device. It is the first of its kind that requires only a USB port to work compared to the other devices that require an external power source. The only other requirement is that the laptop must use Mac OS X 9, Mac OS X 10.3 or a later version of the Apple operating system.

Apart from the power source it distinguish itself from the other devices also because of the setup easiness and especially the boost extent. This USB device does not require advanced skills because to setup the user just has to clip it to the display and connect to the PowerBook USB port.

Most importantly QuickerTek said that the Quicky USB Antenna is able to boosts both the wireless range and the signal strength at least twice compared to the 17-inch Apple PowerBook. Quicky has ten times the amount of RF power of a PowerBook and has the advantage of the positioning of the antenna outside the PowerBook chassis.

Lastly Quicky is compatible with all the most common 802.11/b/g WiFi equipment (like the one manufactured by dLink, Belkin and Linksys). Besides it works with all the PowerBook that support the AirPort system. The Quicky USB Antenna can be purchased directly on the QuickerTek website and its price is set to $225.
