Sony 007 Micro Vault | Save data like 007 does

The worldwide launch of the latest James Bond movie is also the occasion to release Bond branded product to give us the chance to be like…James. One of the devices unveiled is the Sony 007 Micro Vault, a USB memory key. This Bond branded device will store 1GB of data while the other Micro Vault series keys come in different storage size (512MB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB).

Sony included the Virtual Expander software that by compressing some content makes it possible to store even more data on the device. According to Sony this technology in some condition can even triple the space available on the USB drive.

The content is transferred to the drive by using a USB 2.0 (compatible with USB 1.1) port. Therefore the 007 Micro Vault is compatible with recent versions of Windows (from Windows 98 onwards) and MAC OS (9 or higher). Just like some other Sony USB devices the 007 Micro Vault sports a retractable USB connector.

Aesthetically the device is very sleek as you would expect from a James Bond accessory with its one piece chrome detailed design. Apart from the outside branding of the device that uses the Bond trademarks, Sony, for the first time, decided to preload content on its storage device. The 007 Micro Vault comes with a trailer and four Bond-themed wallpapers.

From a 007 product one would expect something more Q-esque but I guess we will have to content ourselves. The 007 Micro Vault is already available on the official Sony Style website and its price is set to $54.99.
